J loves this movie! I wouldn’t say it’s my absolute favorite but I can’t go a Christmas without watching it at least once. Plus I took this quiz thing on Facebook that told me out of all the Christmas movies mine was most like Elf. I wish it were more like White Christmas, but I digress.
This is what I cook up for the party:
I found the recipe for the “Elf” Spaghetti from the pin and site below. I can’t wait to try it this year:

The NYC Pizza Bread Sticks are an easy concept. Just take some garlic bread and cut into strips. Top the strips with lots of mozzarella cheese and bake according to the directions. Or you could make some pizza rolls. Here are some more ideas:

I also can’t wait to try the snowball cookie recipe that I pinned forever ago:

After all of the food, it’s time for snuggling and movie-watching. Elf is such a great, feel-good movie for the whole family and I can’t wait until our Elf Movie Party Night. Hope you all are enjoying the movie parties. Check back on the 22nd for The Polar Express Movie Party. Merry Christmas!

We actually already had our Grinch party this year and it was AWESOME! The kids had so much fun watching the movie and eating their Whoville Meals. I also found out that J apparently had never seen the Jim Carrey version of the movie. I’m not sure how that is possible. Like REALLY?!?! It’s the best!
Here is the menu that we prepared for the party:
The Who Roast Beast is just a basic pot roast with carrots and onions and lots of seasoning.
Grinchy Mashed Potatoes are regular mashed potatoes with a green tint thanks to Sandy Pandy the Elf who turned our gallon of milk green with food coloring. **This doesn’t do anything to the potatoes. They were actually extremely tasty if I do say so myself!**
I made the Who Pudding by whipping up some instant vanilla pudding mixed with red and green sprinkles (I added them before the 5 minute chilling process) and topping the pudding with some whipped cream and more sprinkles. It was too simple but J and the girls licked their bowls clean.
Here is another pin and site for Who Pudding:

Website: The pin leads to an image. The printable is from Seussville, but they no longer have the recipe up on their site.
The Grinch Punch idea is from a pin. The links are below. P.S. I tried to make the punch with milk and it’s disgusting. Do not try at home haha. And I of course used red sprinkles because my green sprinkles were not functioning… ugh.

This celebration was so much fun and the meal is very warm and hearty. So much so that we may or may not have made it through the movie and had to finish it the next day! Oh well. Check back tomorrow for more movie party ideas. Merry Christmas!
Home Alone Movie Party
I don’t know about you, but I love some Christmas movies. I live for watching the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family and breaking out the DVDs each year. I’ve seen each of most of the classics at least 40 times I’m sure and love watching the kids see them for the first time now.
A few years ago I decided to step it up a notch when it came to watching movies. I didn’t just want my girls to watch the movies, I wanted them to experience the movies. So I started (ok halfway started… something always puts a glitch in my plans) a little tradition of having Christmas Movie Parties.
A couple of weeks ago during the 12 Days of Christmas Extravaganza, I linked up a party for Miracle on 34th Street, so you should have the basic idea of what a movie party is. Basically I prepare a meal or a treat and then after the celebration, we all watch the movie. I have five movie parties planned this year:
Home Alone Party
The Grinch Party
Elf Party
The Polar Express Party
White Christmas Fancy Dinner Party
First on the list is one of my favorites, the Home Alone Movie Party. It’s my favorite not only because the movie is absolutely wonderful, but because it is an easy party that anyone can throw together.
After or while you are eating, pop in Home Alone (one or two… or both) and enjoy. Very easy party and tons of fun!
