Thanksgiving Day Blessings: Thankful to Be Mommy

November is finally here! I felt like a crazy woman driving the crazy train to crazy town for the entire month of October. Seriously, we were going non-stop, and I am welcoming a month to reflect on life and love before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is here. I love Christmas so much that normally I just pass up November completely pausing briefly for Thanksgiving and Black Friday (which is really just the beginning of the season). So this year I am making a point to count my blessings each day and write a related post for that day. Because I love organization and am a huge cornball (I’m a teacher. I get it honest), I’ve decided to spell out “Thanksgiving Day Blessings” leading up to Thanksgiving with, well, my blessings obviously. For example, today is T for Thankful to Be Mommy. It all makes sense in my head… too bad you all aren’t there with me. It’s quite the party let me assure you. I would love if you commented with something that you are thankful for that day that begins with that letter or just something that you are thankful for in general! I’m looking forward to my reflections and gloating on the goodness that is my life. And, of course, there will be Pinterest pins along the way!

Today I am thankful to be Mommy. I am thankful for my beautiful twin girls that God blessed me with. I am thankful for snuggles and kisses. I am thankful for boo-boos to kiss and hands to hold. I am thankful for that annoying kid music on my radio and Disney movies in my DVD player and on my Hopper. I am thankful for tons and tons of little panties and socks to fold daily. I am thankful for even the little Barbie shoes I step on and the baby dolls that litter the floor. I am thankful for dirty cabinets and floors after supper. I am thankful for smudges on my freshly cleaned doors. I am thankful for a van that is never clean. I am thankful for toys in my bathtub. I am thankful for constant laughter and singing. I am thankful for the sound of footprints forever running through the halls.

I am thankful to be Lyndsie’s Mommy. I am thankful for her faces and little talking voice that she does when she thinks something is funny that is high-pitched and unintelligible but so very adorable. I am thankful for her drama meltdowns in the morning because she just wants to snuggle some more. I am thankful for her energy and sweetness. I am thankful for her free-spirit and willingness to make friends with everyone. I am thankful for her absolutely amazing use of adverbs. I am thankful for the cuddles on the couch when she lays her head in the perfect spot under my chin. I am thankful for her always wanting to be the baby or the kitten or the little sister so that Brynley can always play the Mommy. I am thankful that she is laid back and easy-going and has an imagination like no other. I am thankful to be her Mommy.

I am thankful to be Brynley’s Mommy. I am thankful for her kindness and sweetness. I am thankful that she is Mommy’s girl and always sticks with me and my sports teams. I am thankful for her stubborness and patience to do things the right way. I am thankful for her helpfulness and willingness to help me cook or clean. I am thankful for her watchful eye and concern for her sister. I am thankful for her leadership. I am thankful for her intelligence and natural grace. I am thankful for her calm during the storm that is her crazy sister sometimes. I am thankful for her “mothering” when I don’t feel well. I am thankful for her cleanliness and persistence and being just like me. I am thankful for her giggle when I tickle her that makes me giggle even louder. I am thankful for the serious look she gets when she “knows” something or the surprised look when she is telling you what happened at school that day.

I am thankful that I am Mommy to two wonderful girls who behave and listen at school and are eager to learn. I am thankful that I rarely have any huge meltdowns or temper tantrums to deal with. I am thankful that they put up with my huge meltdowns and temper tantrums sometimes. I am thankful that they love me no matter what. I am thankful that they saved me from myself. I am thankful for their daily reminders that God is with us. I am thankful for their daily reminders that there is good in the world. I am thankful that they chose me to be theirs. I am thankful to be Mommy.
